With MSG GO, viewers who subscribe to MSG Networks on cable/satellite can watch live New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres, New York Red Bulls, and New York Liberty games, including pre & post-game coverage & MSG Networks’ Emmy award-winning original programming on their mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
Versus was challenged to find a way to both emphasize the availability and accessibility of MSG programming while also stoking fan’s passions for their favorite teams. Additionally, the team needed to conceive of a modular approach that could be versioned out not only to spotlight the seven teams (Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres, Red Bulls, and Liberty) that play on MSG, but to capture the essence of each sport they played (men’s and women’s basketball, hockey, and soccer).
To do this, the team concepted a playful, light-hearted approach that leaned into the use of colorful illustrations to tap into every fan’s sense of hometown pride. The final approach mixed photo-real CG phones and tablets with dynamic, fluid 2d animation that lead fans on a journey through their team’s highlights and the product’s capabilities.
Versus was responsible for the copywriting, design, animation, editorial, and audio for this campaign. In total this campaign consisted of 44 unique versions for air, as well as 11 versions designed to be integrated into the 4 outdoor screens that MSG owns at 11 Penn Plaza.
